China News Service, February 17. According to a report by Kyodo News on the 17th, the International Olympic Committee is considering presenting the Olympic torch to the players of the U.S. and Japan teams who won the second and third place in the Beijing Winter Olympics figure skating team competition.

The medal presentation ceremony was not held after the match due to a positive doping test by the champion of the Russian Olympic team, Valieva.

On February 7, 2022, Valieva won the Beijing Winter Olympics figure skating team championship, but she fell into a doping storm after the game.

Valieva was temporarily suspended by the Russian Anti-Doping Agency due to a positive drug test on a sample provided on December 25, 2021.

On February 9, 2022, Valieva challenged the temporary suspension and a hearing was held on the same day.

Subsequently, the Russian Anti-Doping Agency decided to lift her temporary ban and allow her to continue participating in the Beijing Winter Olympics.

The decision was challenged by the International Olympic Committee, the World Anti-Doping Agency and the International Skating Union to the International Court of Arbitration for Sport.

On February 14, the International Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) issued a ruling that allowed Valieva to continue competing.

The International Olympic Committee issued a statement on its official website, saying that it has taken note of the decision of the International Court of Arbitration for Sport to allow the Russian Olympic Committee figure skater Valieva to continue to participate in the Beijing Winter Olympics.

But for the sake of fairness, it was decided not to hold an award ceremony for the figure skating team competition during the Beijing Winter Olympics.

There will also be no awards ceremony if Valieva finishes in the top three in the single skating event.
