Water samples have been sent to the lab at Uppsala water for analysis and until the results are ready, the school will be closed.

The upper secondary school students have switched to distance education while the upper secondary special school is completely closed.

- On Wednesday afternoon, the school found out that a student is infected with a parasite that may have spread via the drinking water at the school.

The school does not have municipal water but its own well.

We have decided to close the school and switch to distance learning these two days before the sports holiday to test the water properly so you can find out if that is where the infection comes from, says Erik Boman, communicator at the education administration in Uppsala municipality.

According to him, about a thousand people, students, staff and residents in the area, are affected by the situation that has arisen.

Everyone who has been to school and drank water is encouraged to get in touch and seek medical attention to get tested if you experience symptoms.

- We do not know if water is the source of the infection.

It has emerged on Thursday that several students and also staff who have had similar symptoms so we do not yet know how extensive this is.

There are 10-15 people who have so far reported that they have different types of stomach pain and symptoms, says Erik Boman.
