Regarding the rumors of US President Joe Biden's visit to Korea in May, the Blue House said, "We have not received any official proposals or requests for consultations from the US, but if the US offers it, our government will actively welcome it."

A key Blue House official met with reporters today (17th) and said, "The Korea-US alliance is the foundation of our diplomatic and security."

"If the US president visits Korea right after the new government is inaugurated, I think it will be the best opportunity for the development of the ROK-US alliance," he added.

Earlier, Japan's Kyodo News reported that after US President Biden's visit to Japan to attend the Quad Summit in late May, they were discussing a plan to visit South Korea.

Last year, the US and Japan initially agreed to hold a quad summit in Japan around March of this year, but it is known that they have adjusted the date to late May due to the spread of Corona 19.

The date of the Quad Summit is rarely confirmed due to the spread of Omicron, a mutation of COVID-19, etc., but when President Biden's visit to Japan, which is expected after late May, is confirmed, it seems that the schedule for the visit to Korea will be settled.

In this case, President Biden will have his first summit with the new president of South Korea.
