“On February 16, 2022, in the city of Nur-Sultan, the KNB of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as part of a pre-trial investigation, detained a group of adherents of a destructive religious movement,” the report says.

The detainees are suspected of participating in a religious association banned by the court and recruiting people to carry out extremist activities.

During the search, extremist literature and other material evidence were confiscated.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Kazakhstan in early January faced an act of terrorist aggression, which was committed with the participation of destructive forces inside and outside the republic.
