Political dialogue resumed this week in Côte d'Ivoire.

After being launched on December 16, only a few sessions took place to tune the violins of the 21 political parties invited on the form and themes of the discussions.

It is now done.

From the launch of this work on the merits, all the political parties present agree on one point: the deadline initially set for this Thursday will probably not be tenable.

And the government accepted the possibility of a continuation of the discussions beyond.

Since Monday, the “

clear, sometimes lively

” debates according to one participant have been taking place in a cordial atmosphere.

However, on each subject, a consensus must be reached.

Three themes were thus discussed on Monday, half a dozen on Tuesday, around political appeasement measures.

That is to say, for example, what affects the fate of prisoners arrested during electoral crises, or the return of Ivorians still in exile.

Once all these questions have been exhausted, the delegates of the political parties will consider the measures related to the vast question of national reconciliation.

More technical but not necessarily less stormy, the actors of Ivorian political life will debate the institutional and legal framework of the elections, that is to say the composition of the Independent Electoral Commission, or the provisions of the electoral code for example.

It will take the time it will take, but we have to give everyone time to express themselves in depth

”, comments the delegate of a political party.
