On January 27, the German brand BMW dressed up for the presentation of its

new 100% electric SUV BMW iX

, a vehicle "perfect for day to day and to look to the future".

In these terms, Andrés Velencoso described the model, host of a digital event in which, through different guests, the attendee was able to see up close everything new that a car that is presented as a turning point in history brings to our roads. of electric models.

For 60 minutes, Velencoso together with Felipe Romero, product manager of BMW Spain and José Ramón Montoya, Product Manager of BMW iX, emphasized that this model will definitely

mark a before and after in the brand

and in how we We relate to electric vehicles.

BMW iX: rethinking the future to make our lives easier

As soon as the presentation began, Velencoso gave way to a video in which he was seen testing the BMW iX, while pointing out some of its main keys: this vehicle is the brand's latest 100% electric SUV;

It has a robust design (although it has the

same dimensions as an X5

), with a monolithic appearance but, at the same time, it exudes minimalist elegance.

And as the design is an important part of this iX, BMW has presented it together with new exclusive paints.

Power is another factor to take into account.

Specifically, the

BMW iX

has 523 hp and an integrated 112 kWh battery, which

provides a range of up to 630 km

in normal driving conditions.

Thanks to its fast charging technology, at compatible points we can get 80% of its total capacity in just over half an hour.

Velencoso himself performs a test in the video: with just 10 minutes plugged in we will have an additional 120 kilometers of autonomy to continue our journey.

Of course, the video also refers to the zero-emission environmental label that the new BMW electric model has, with which we can circulate freely in any city, at any time and day of the week.

And it is that sustainability and the circular economy have been present throughout the manufacturing chain of the new SUV.

BMW proves to continue applying its philosophy of the four RE (Re:think, reduce, re:use and re:cycle)

to change the world and thus reduce the carbon footprint

.

BMW and the circular economy: bases on which the BMW iX is based

After the video, the first guest of the event, Felipe Romero, product manager of BMW Group Spain, was introduced.

Velencoso and Romero talked about

the importance that the company gives to the circular economy in all the manufacturing processes of its cars

, from the use of renewable energy in its production in factories, to the reuse of interior materials.

"It is a more circular than sustainable manufacturing concept. For example, batteries that are no longer used in our cars are given a second life in our offices and factories. They are even being used by a group like Coldplay on their tour. In this sense, the waste we generate is 99.1% reused so that the car's carbon footprint is zero, both in driving and in the manufacturing process," Romero assured at one point in his speech.

Example of circular economy in this BMW iX: the plastic used in the manufacture of this new SUV comes from

100% recycled bottles

and the interior mats are fishing nets.

And it is that the i3 marked the way and the iX has continued and improved it.

In short, Romero points to the iX as the

direct heir to the BMW i3

, improving autonomy and using a carbon fiber chassis to lighten weight.

For all these reasons, we can consider the BMW iX as a pioneering and unique car of its kind.

BMW iX: technology at the service of drivers

Next, José Ramón Montoya,

BMW iX

Product Manager, presented some in-depth technical data on the car.

For example, he showed the two models currently available, the BMW iX xDrive40 and xDrive 50. The first has 326 CV of power and 425 KM of autonomy;

the second, 523 and 630 respectively.

Both models have also been built with a philosophy in mind: put technology at the service of the driver and

minimize the presence of buttons and other elements that can distract him

.

Montoya continued his speech by pointing out data on the

artificial intelligence in the iX

.

This will learn from the driver's habits, anticipating them and performing automated actions to make driving much more comfortable, all thanks to its innovative ID8 operating system.

And something that seems like science fiction: if we suffer scratches on the front grille, it will only be necessary to apply heat to make it disappear completely.

As an incentive for this presentation, and without falling into spoilers, they present the

video of a new iX model

that will delight sports car lovers.

The event ends with a round table in which Felipe Romero participates together with Mónica Chao, Director of Sustainability at IKEA, and José María López Galiacho, Head of Acciona Mobility.

Among the three, the importance of companies and citizens to rethink a society

in which the circular economy is present in our daily lives

is highlighted .

Felipe Romero alludes to the business commitment by marking BMW's roadmap in this regard: use recycled material in the manufacture of its vehicles, 50% of its sales will be electric, with 25 different models in the catalogue, up to a reduction of 80%. % in manufacturing emissions and be 100% neutral by 2050.

If you want to try first-hand why this new electric SUV is unique, you can do it here.

The BMX iW is for sale from 85,000 euros.

BMW continues to bet on the future and knows that this is achieved from the present, producing vehicles such as the iX, a car for day to day with which

to look towards a horizon full of possibilities
