“Military tensions in and around Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan could seriously affect the supply chains of critical minerals to the United States,” the appeal says.

According to the authors of the document, manifestations of escalation and the inability of the administration of President Joe Biden to "lead the global response" leads to an unknown number of risks for both Europe and the whole world.

They are connected, among other things, with channels for the supply of resources from the countries of the region. 

In this regard, parliamentarians urged Haaland to take into account the current situation and its potential impact on supply when compiling the "Definitive List of Critical Minerals for 2022" and deciding which resources to include in it.

They also noted that the Biden administration does not use the available tools to increase domestic mining and passively contributes to "further US dependence on Russia and other adversaries for the supply of helium, uranium and other mineral resources."

Earlier, the American Accounts Chamber proposed to develop deep-sea mining in order to reduce dependence on Russia, China and other states that "control" important sources of minerals.
