- Everyone realizes that we can not counteract electric scooters.

We want it to be orderly, and safe, says Per Sandberg, head of administration at the public housing administration in Växjö municipality.

It was in September last year that the city was suddenly invaded by electric scooters from the company Ryde, despite the municipality explicitly saying no to other electric scooter companies that wanted to establish themselves.

In the clip, SVT's reporter tests how fast an electric scooter at 8 km / h goes.

No parking

An agreement is now in place between the municipality and Ryde, where it is stated, among other things, that the speed at the travel center and on pedestrian streets will be reduced to 8 km / h, and that there is a parking ban in five parks in Växjö.

- We think that when it comes to lanes on footpaths, we want a low speed.

Then we landed at 8 km / h, says Per Sandberg.

It is up to the company to program the electric scooters so they keep the maximum speed in the agreed areas.
