  • 13-F The PP plan to govern without Vox: pacts with local platforms to force their abstention

The regionalist parties have become a key player in the elections in Castilla y León, which are imposed as the most voted force in 161 municipalities, most of them of socialist tradition, and manage to snatch a

large part of their electorate from

bipartisanship .

Syria Now!

,

Unión del Pueblo Leonés

and

Por Ávila

obtain a total of 7 seats and stand as the favorite option in their respective provinces.

Castilla y León is the largest Spanish autonomy and with large demographic deserts, it only concentrates

5% of the

country's population and most of its inhabitants are concentrated in the provincial capitals and 14 other cities with more than 10,000 residents.

The fight for depopulation has become almost a cry for help in this territory governed for more than three decades by the Popular Party, which this time is victorious again.

However, the change has been led by these minority formations and whose focus has a more regional character.

This is the case of the citizen group Soria ¡Ya!

that on Sunday he got three representatives and became the first force in 93 Soria municipalities, with 42.57% of the votes.

His candidate,

Ángel Ceña

achieved better results at the polls than the PP and PSOE combined in this province.

The Socialist Party loses the first position it achieved in the 2019 elections, when it won at the polls with 34.84% of the vote.

On this occasion,

Luis Tudanca

has not met the expectations of the Tezanos

CIS

and lost 117,613 votes -mostly absorbed by the PP and Vox- which are mainly focused on the areas of Soria and León.

Despite the fact that

Alfonso Fernández Mañueco

's Popular Party is the winner at these polls, the great winner has been the formation of

Santiago Abascal

, which has risen to 12 points and has gone from having a single attorney three years ago to 13. Vox , has eclipsed a large part of the voters of the PP and the PSOE, has achieved representation in all the Castilian and Leonese provinces except Soria and has been the party with the most votes in 80 municipalities and the best results have been achieved in Salamanca and Valladolid.

UPL, which already had representation in Parliament, improves its results and grows to 3 attorneys.

This party, with a strong regionalist tint, does not recognize the current territorial order and is committed to the creation of a new community formed by León, Zamora and Salamanca.

With 51,878 votes -2.26% more than the previous elections- distributed by León, Zamora and Salamanca, it manages to undermine the socialist electorate that drops up to 30 points in some localities as is the case of

Maraña

in León.

The small towns that make up the so-called empty Spain mobilized in favor of Mañueco, who was the favorite in more than 1,500 municipalities of the 2,248 that the autonomous community has.

Many of them in the province of Ávila, which for another year is painted blue.

However, along with the provincial capital, some towns such as

Mengamuñoz

,

Niharra

and

Padiernos

maintain the yellow that they achieved in 2019, when the Por Ávila party, a split from the PP that was born that same year, prevailed as the winner.

In the new electoral appointment last Sunday, XAV was the fourth most voted party, behind the PP, PSOE and Vox, but with a rise of up to 7 points compared to the previous elections, at the expense of mostly socialist voters.

One of the unknowns of these elections was

Ciudadanos

.

In 2019, it was the third most voted force, which gave it the key to governability in Castilla y León. On this occasion, the one who was a member of the Government, loses 11 attorneys to reach a single seat.

He barely manages to stay in a town like

Calerega

, in Burgos.
