Because nitrous oxide is not classified as a drug, it is difficult for them to intervene against its users.

But the police picture is that young people can easily end up in addiction.

They therefore now go out and warn of the use.

Most nitrous oxide cartridges are found in Västerås and Fagersta.

 - There are certain risks and the police have an assignment to report incidents to the social services when children are ill.

Even if it is not statutory.

It is suspected that young people are doing badly, says Johan Thalberg.

Destroy B-12

At the Poison Information Center, it has been discovered that nitrous oxide destroys B-12 in the body of several users.

- When you use a lot of nitrous oxide for a long time, B-12 is destroyed and that is what, among other things, damages the spinal cord and nerves. This is something we see increasing.

Nobody knows where the line goes for abuse, says Johanna Grass, chief physician at the Poison Information Center
