Monday, February 14, on the occasion of Valentine's Day, the residence for seniors Les Châteaux in Wettolsheim in Alsace organized a speed dating.

If some lend themselves to the game of flirting, the goal is above all to get to know each other, to break the isolation by creating new friendships.

REPORTING

They live in the same Alsatian residence for seniors in Wettolsheim, but do not always know each other well.

To break their isolation, the management of the structure decided to organize a "speed dating" afternoon, on the occasion of Valentine's Day.

Ten minutes to break the ice

"The ladies remain seated, the gentlemen move. Don't forget that in the baskets you have the questions", launches Fabienne Kauffmann, manager of the residence.

The activity is launched.

Everyone dressed in their 31s. The women painted their lips, the men put on their best shirts.

They have ten minutes to break the ice, find common ground.

“Are you more urban or more rural?” asks Annie.

"I'm from the countryside! Can't you see that?!"

Gerard replies, tit for tat.

Very quickly, they crumple the pieces of paper with ideas for questions.

Conversations flow in all directions.

"We are very alone in our apartments, regrets Michèle. So when we are lucky enough to meet, it makes noise."

Build bonds of trust

A glass of crémant in one hand, heart-shaped stickers in the other, some engage in flirting: "You are very charming", slips Roland to Suzanne, seated opposite him.

But not everyone is looking for love.

The aim is above all to create a bond of trust between the residents, explains Fabienne Kauffmann: "The objective is to get to know each other in order to interact better. To be able to go see your neighbor and tell him "I have a problem, can you come?

that's what we really need."

Already, after this "speed dating" session, many promise each other new afternoons with friends, without waiting for the next Valentine's Day.
