People's Power Presidential Candidate Yoon Seok-yeol pledged today (14th) that the Minister of Justice's authority to lead investigations against the Prosecutor General will be repealed, and not only the Office of Public Investigation for High-Level Public Officials, but also the prosecution and police will be able to investigate corruption of high-ranking public officials.

It is noteworthy because it is a judicial policy that was brought out while Candidate Yoon took office while foretelling the 'cleaning of corruption' against the Moon Jae-in government.

Candidate Yoon held a press conference at the Yeouido office in the morning and announced 11 related policies and promises, saying, "I will realize a judicial service for the people, the people's justice, and a judicial service that is closer to the people."

Candidate Yoon continued, "We will abolish the toxic clause (of the Air Traffic Service Act) that stipulates the superior and monopolistic status of the Public Service Department in the investigation of corruption cases of high-ranking public officials, and allow the prosecution and police to investigate corruption of high-ranking public officials together with the Air Traffic Service, thereby incompetent. And we will normalize the politically-biased airlifting station," he said.

This is a step forward from the previous announcement that the new government would maintain the airborne service in the event of a presidential election victory, and pledged to 'reform' its functions and roles.

Candidate Yoon also said, "We will establish a responsible investigation system so that the police and prosecutors must promptly investigate cases suspected of a crime.

The system is designed so that the police can autonomously investigate before sending a case, but after sending the case, the prosecution can directly carry out a complementary investigation, and in the case of a non-refundable case, the prosecution can request a transfer up to three times.

He added, "We plan to institutionalize police complaints to the police and prosecutors to handle cases respectively, so that the public's will is respected and cases are handled promptly where the people want them."
