After the shipowner CMA CGM, NJJ is therefore the second declared candidate to take over the 89% stake held by Groupe Bernard Tapie (GBT) in La Provence.

Xavier Niel, who owns the remaining 11% of La Provence, via NJJ, is also an individual shareholder of Le Monde, as well as owner of Nice-Matin, still via NJJ.

The two groups were already candidates for the takeover of the press group during a first call for tenders closed at the end of November.

A second call for tenders was launched on February 1 by the judicial co-liquidators of the companies of the ex-businessman, who died in October.

The new offers had to be filed until Monday at noon at the latest.

The sealed envelopes will be opened on Tuesday during a hearing at the Bobigny Commercial Court (Seine-Saint-Denis) set for 2 p.m.

This court is responsible for the liquidation of Bernard Tapie's assets.
