The Finistère gendarmerie has just dismantled puppy trafficking in Saint-Pol-de-Léon.
The investigation began following numerous complaints against four people working in a micro-business selling puppies.
The plaintiffs notably denounced “dogs, provided for projections, infected due to non-sterilized insemination equipment” or “sales made without the issuance of official documents”, report the gendarmes on their Facebook page.
A judicial inquiry was then immediately launched, bringing to light an impressive and lucrative business.
In four years, more than 300 dogs have thus been affected by this traffic, a hundred dogs having been sold or having died.
Over the period, the four respondents would also have accumulated more than 300,000 euros without declaring a single cent for taxes and would have received 150,000 euros in aid from social organizations in an undue manner.
Fourteen animals seized during searches
During the search, carried out with teams from the SPA and the Châteaulin canine investigation group, the investigators got their hands on two French bulldogs, twelve English and French bulldog puppies, nearly 1,500 euros in cash as well as numerous luxury clothing and leather goods.
The seized dogs were handed over to the SPA.
The four defendants will have to answer for their actions before the Brest court.
