In Ljusnarsberg, the municipality has never denied any assistance because a lease is not allowed, according to Camilla Hofström.

On the other hand, assistance has been denied in cases where there have been doubts about the lease and suspected attempts at subsidy violations.

The municipality has also seen that there are people who are exploited by their landlords.

When checking the electricity consumption in some cases, it has been shown, among other things, that the tenant not only pays for his own electricity, but also the neighbor's - without knowing about it.

- This means that we are vigilant in general on these contracts and what the individual actually pays for, says Camilla Hofström.

Social dumping and bed bugs

Ljusnarsberg also has problems with other municipalities being able to provide vulnerable people with housing and move to Ljusnarsberg, so-called social dumping.

In those cases, the social services have seen that people end up in low-standard housing.

Then you help them find another home, either in the public utility or in the municipality where the person came from.

- We had a single mother with several children from a big city who ended up in an apartment that was totally substandard, it was bed bugs and so awful.

She was in despair.

She had never looked at the apartment before she signed the contract, says Camilla Hofström.
