“The US response (on security guarantees. -

) consists of two parts,” Lavrov said.

The first part responds to the issues of non-expansion of NATO, non-deployment of strike weapons and the return of military and military-technical configurations in Europe to the positions of 1997.

“On these questions, the answer is no; of course, it cannot satisfy us,” Lavrov stressed.

The second part of the US response to Russia's proposals for security guarantees is constructive, he said.

“It provides for quite specific measures in relation to solving the problems of land-based medium-range and shorter-range missiles ... and proposals for a whole range of measures to reduce military risks, trust and military transparency,” Lavrov concluded.

On January 26, the Russian Foreign Ministry received a written response from the United States on proposals for security guarantees.

Representatives of NATO also sent a response to the Russian side.

Earlier, the President of Russia announced the need to seek comprehensive and legally binding guarantees of Russia's security from the United States and NATO.
