“They underscored the need for European countries to reduce their dependence on Russian gas — a decision that would hit hardest at the heart of Russia's strategic interests,” Johnson's office said.

As previously stated in the Russian Foreign Ministry, the United States is trying to occupy part of the European energy market, using the political situation in the region created by the Americans themselves.

Moscow recalled that the United States is not even able to partially cover the volume of energy supplies that Russia provides to the EU countries.

The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, noted that the European Union is negotiating with the United States and a number of other countries on the possibility of increasing gas supplies to Europe.
