“According to the new rules, if a driver was deprived of his license for driving while intoxicated or for refusing a medical examination, he will have to take these tests,” Soldunov said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

He explained that earlier, after the deprivation of rights, making a medical certificate, the motorist issued it in the general manner without taking blood tests.

The auto expert noted that for ordinary drivers who do not violate the rules of the road, nothing will change in total.

But at the same time, if a doctor on a medical examination reveals signs of chronic alcohol or drug addiction in a person, then he can be sent for testing.

Earlier it was reported that the Ministry of Health of Russia approved a new procedure for issuing medical certificates for drivers, which will come into force on March 1, 2022.

Evgeny Bryun, chief freelance psychiatrist-narcologist of the Ministry of Health of Russia, explained that the new procedure provides for an increase in the volume of examinations for certain categories of drivers.

So, previously deprived of a driver's license will have to pass a test for drugs and chronic alcohol use.

Earlier, the president of the Independent Narcological Guild, expert of the Public Chamber, narcologist Ruslan Isaev, in an interview with RT, evaluated the new procedure for issuing medical certificates for drivers, which will come into force on March 1, 2022.
