Anders Ågren (M) about the night stop in Umeå's bus traffic: "Wants to increase security"

The motion for flexible night stops was submitted as early as 2018 by the bourgeois parties.

The proposal was that travelers should have the opportunity to get off the night buses between the stops to get closer to home and thus increase security.

- It will be a part of increasing security if it has been uncomfortable on the bus.

For example, a girl who experiences insecurity from other travelers can ask the driver to let her go earlier, says Anders Ågren (M).

In Kalmar and Kronoberg, there are already the flexible night stops in bus traffic.

Anders Ågren (M) says that it is unusual for them to use the stop, but that it is good that this opportunity exists.

- We simply want to increase security.

This will be introduced gradually and primarily in rural areas.

The ambition is for it to start during the year and for it to continue in other parts during 2023, says Anders Ågren.

The public transport authority in the Västerbotten Region has asked Länstrafiken to investigate how the night stop should work in practice.

Länstrafiken's investigation will be sent in March for decision-making - after that, the night buses can stop at the desired location.
