A 28-year-old man fell in Lake Geneva (Haute-Savoie) after his paramotor broke down on Sunday around 2:30 p.m., reports France Bleu Pays de Savoie.

The pilot fell nearly 150 meters and remained in water at 7°C for a few minutes before being rescued.

Once brought back to the bank, the man, paralyzed and in a situation of hypothermia, was then taken to the hospital center of Thonon-les Bains.

To avoid any risk of pollution, the rescuers then proceeded to search for the paramotor, which was finally found at a depth of twelve meters in the afternoon.

The gendarmerie investigation will thus be able to carry out various analyzes on the machine in order to understand the origin of this accident potentially linked to an engine failure.
