“Tawam” doctors save a child who was suffering from several cancerous tumors
Doctors at Tawam Hospital, affiliated with the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company "SEHA", saved the life of an eight-year-old boy, after they removed several tumors from his kidneys, lungs and stomach.
The Filipino child was referred to the emergency department at Tawam Hospital, after he had difficulty breathing, where he had the necessary medical examinations, which revealed the presence of a tumor in his left kidney, which had spread to his lungs.
Due to the critical nature of his condition, the child underwent an immediate plan of chemotherapy to try to eradicate the tumors, and after six weeks his condition had improved significantly, and he was transferred to the hospital's pediatric oncology ward for further medical care and further examinations.
In light of the results of the examinations, the doctors discovered that a number of tumors are still active;
They decided to perform a 6-hour surgery, which was successful, and the doctors were able to remove all the tumors in the kidneys and all the tumors surrounding the vessels, and inside the main vein in the abdomen.

Dr. Hilal Matta, Consultant and Head of Pediatric Surgery, at Tawam Hospital, said that the tumors were removed from the child’s abdomen, including the part that surrounds the vessels, and it was inside the lower vein (the main vein of the abdomen), and thank God the operation was successful thanks to the advanced diagnosis. He added that the child's condition is constantly improving, and he is subject to periodic review with the oncology team at Tawam Hospital to check on his condition.
