Two men were sentenced on Friday before the criminal court, for the robbery of a philately shop in November 2018, in Béziers (Hérault).
Two hooded individuals carrying handguns had burst into this store, and had obstructed the merchant and the two other people present.
After painstakingly searching the shop, they came away with valuable coins and stamps.
The damage was estimated at around 100,000 euros.
Up to 9 years in prison
The investigations had allowed the arrest on April 8, 2019 of several suspects already known for acts of banditry, and to recover a large part of the loot, balaclavas, a weapon and ammunition, indicates the parquet floor of Béziers.
A 51-year-old man, already convicted twice before an assize court, had only admitted having concealed part of the loot found in his possession on the day of his arrest.
He was sentenced to 9 years imprisonment.
Another man, also 51 years old, who admitted having served as an intermediary to negotiate the resale of the loot, was sentenced to 3 years in prison, including 2 years suspended.
A third man, a forty-something who was accused of having provided information about the victim, was released, given the benefit of the doubt.
In addition, a fourth person, suspected of being also involved in this affair, died a few months after the facts, indicates the parquet floor of Béziers.
