"It's crazy to have received a lot of likes from China lately"

Beijing News: The short videos you shot are loved by many netizens. How did you come up with the idea of shooting these videos?

Are the poses in the video specially designed?

Magnin:

(laughs) I'm actually that kind of person who always wants to have fun and make everyone around me happy.

Especially in the Olympic Village, I can feel the pressure of competition, so I also want to bring some joy to this event.

It seems to work well, and Chinese friends like it very much.

The final position was intentional, and I thought it might be more fun to land in a relaxed, comfortable-looking position at the end.

Beijing News: Many Chinese netizens have drawn cartoons for you. Have you ever thought that your videos will become popular in China?

Magnin:

I've been receiving so much attention and love lately, it's crazy.

I have never experienced what happened in the past week.

I probably got over 2000 messages from Chinese fans, most of them in Spanish, I don't know how they did it.

Every message was very heartwarming, very long, all positive, and they were really nice.

In addition to the information there are 20 to 30 of my paintings, which are all fantastic.

I want to say to all Chinese fans, I love you, you are the cutest fans I have ever met.

The epidemic prevention measures of the Beijing Winter Olympics are reassuring, "Shougang ski jumping platform is the best in the world"

Beijing News: On February 4, you also participated in the opening ceremony of the Beijing Winter Olympics. How did you feel overall?

How do you feel about the opening ceremony?

Magnin:

Attending the opening ceremony felt very good. Entering the venue was like being in a movie. It can be said to be an unforgettable experience in a lifetime.

This is the first Winter Olympics I have participated in, especially in China. I like China very much, and I also like Chinese friends very much.

Although I didn't get to see the performance before the athletes came out, I could feel the overall atmosphere and radiate a lot of energy.

Beijing News: How is your life in the Olympic Village?

What impresses you most about the Beijing Winter Olympics?

Magnin:

Life in the Olympic Village is very good. I like the badges of the Beijing Winter Olympics very much. I have collected a lot of them and pin them on my athlete qualification certificate.

What impresses me most about the Beijing Winter Olympics is its safety. The epidemic prevention measures in the Olympic Village are very professional.

Despite the dire situation of the new crown epidemic, I personally feel very safe and it is good to feel that way.

Also, as I've mentioned in other interviews, I think Beijing's Shougang Ski Jump is the best ski jump in the world.

The platform is very big, we can do a lot of tricks on it, and I really like it.

Beijing News: Are there any interesting things about getting along with athletes from other countries in the Olympic Village?

We noticed that you posted a photo with Gu Ailing on social media. Did you watch her game?

Magnin:

Yes, I went to see Gu Ailing's game.

We are very close and she is a great friend.

Especially in the past few months, we've been together a lot.

She is very nice and she has always inspired me to improve.

We also met after she won the women's freestyle ski jumping gold medal at the Beijing Winter Olympics.

Beijing Winter Olympics trip is "incredible", I hope I can try my best to enjoy the competition in the future

Beijing News: What made you interested in skiing in the first place?

Magnin:

I've been skiing since I was about 2 years old, my family loves it very much, my dad also has a ski shop, and we're always together.

In fact, the dangers of skiing are also fascinating.

Every skiing can be scary, but when you make tricks and land successfully, the satisfaction and the thrill of adrenaline rising are even more indescribable.

I love this sport very much.

For me, it's the best sport in the world.

Beijing News: Is it your dream to participate in the Winter Olympics?

What challenges and difficulties did you encounter while preparing for the event?

Magnin:

The Olympics is undoubtedly the biggest sporting event in the world, and it has always been my dream to participate in it.

In March of last year, I injured my knee and had to have surgery on my left knee, which was not very good.

All the doctors said that it would take a year to get back on the field, but I finally managed to get to the Beijing Winter Olympics in less than a year, which is my dream.

I also want to say to children in China and around the world that if you make up your mind, you can achieve great things.

A lot of people didn't believe me because of my injury.

With the help of my coach and my family, I managed to do it, but overall, it was quite a challenge.

Beijing News: You and your teammate Javier Lisso are Spanish athletes participating in freestyle skiing at the Winter Olympics for the first time. What does this mean to you?

Magnin:

Yeah, it's incredible, it's historic (achievement) for us.

When people mention Spain, they always talk about summer, beaches, warm weather, or Barcelona and Madrid.

Spain doesn't just have these, there are a lot of places to ski and a lot of resorts.

Hopefully one day people will have the opportunity to come and ski with us in Spain.

Beijing News: This is the first Winter Olympics you participated in. How would you evaluate your Olympic journey?

What are your specific goals for the Beijing Winter Olympics?

Magnin:

I think I'd use the words "unbelievable", "dreamy" and "surprising" to describe this trip to the Olympics, everything was so grand, the experience was unique, it was amazing .

I still have a competition next week. Earlier, I did not perform well in the Olympic Freestyle Ski Men's Grand Jump Qualifying Tournament. I failed twice, and I didn't make it to the final. I am very disappointed and regretful, so I hope It will be even better if I can achieve "revenge" in next week's competition, make it to the finals, and go home with a medal.

Overall, I still want to try my best to play to my best level and have fun.

Maybe make a few more interesting videos for Chinese fans to watch.

Beijing News: Can you share your future plans with us?

Magnin:

After the Beijing Winter Olympics, I will go home and stay in Barcelona for a while, maybe celebrate with my family, and then continue the season.

I still have a lot of World Cup matches, my overall ranking is not bad, and I will continue to work hard in the future.
