About 5,000 soldiers from the Republican Guard, the unit assigned to the protection of institutions - in general - and to the President of the Republic in particular, took part in a so-called "endurance" march, in the words of the presidency of the Republic.

The army adds the term “deterrence”.

If officially, the link with the arrest of Francois Beya, the special security adviser of Félix Tshisekedi, has not been established, several sources - including senior officers - do not hide it.

Stated objective: to reassure the population about the loyalty of the men in uniform after the arrest of the special adviser in charge of the president's security.

The psychosis is definitely present.

Moreover, the Deputy Prime Minister, also in charge of the Interior, recognized this during the last meeting of the Council of Ministers.

He affirmed that the state of mind of the population is marked in particular by the arrest of

Francois Beya

as well as the confirmation of indications supporting an attempt at destabilization.

No debate

However, this matter was not discussed during the ministerial meeting, according to members of the government contacted.

A minister relativizes: "

Often, these delicate questions relating to state security are dealt with directly at the Presidency of the Republic and / or in a select committee

", he said.

Support for the Head of State

However, Prime Minister Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde reiterated his support for Felix Tshisekedi.

He also affirmed before the members of the government, "

no effort will be spared to discourage any intention likely to undermine the democratic process

".

The parade of the Republican Guard, yesterday, Saturday February 12, would thus respond to the triple posture: recognize that there is a problem, reaffirm support for the president and ensure that the situation is under control, confide members of the entourage of the head of state.
