Almudena, the Asian camel specimen born last weekend at the Quirós circus in Madrid, was baptized on the track during this Sunday's performance by the priest of the Spanish circus and fair ministry.

She had as godfather the councilor of Carabanchel and delegate councilor for Housing, Álvaro González.

After 14 months of gestation, Olga, her mother, gave birth to the puppy without complications.

The camel received the name of Almudena in honor of the patron saint of the capital, according to the circus, which has eight Asian camels, reports Efe.

The puppy will stay at the Quirós, forming part of the cast of artists.

«We are a big family and the animals are part of it, for us our main objective is their well-being, all the animals have large enclosures to run and play, a 24-hour veterinarian, water and food at will, they are born in the circus and they are treated with prizes and affection, "they indicated from the circus in a statement.

El Quirós, a Madrid classic at Christmas, has been installed since November 12 next to the Islazul shopping center, and has extended its stay in the capital until March 6 «at the request of the public, due to the great success obtained as every year ».

«We are a traditional circus show, with trapeze artists, acrobats, jugglers, Free Style flying motorcyclists, clowns and animals such as camels, horses and llamas from Peru.

We will always continue betting, to keep the tradition alive and will continue to have its best artists, the animals, ”they emphasize from the circus.

Although Madrid does not allow circuses with wild animals since the spring of 2020, the Circo Quirós has the authorization of the Municipal Board of Carabanchel, considering that camels, horses and llamas are domestic animals, so the regulations would be complied with.
