The corresponding statement was published on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

“Despite repeated warnings from the Russian side that in case of further actions aimed at restricting the work of the Russian TV channel RT DE in Germany, a reaction will inevitably follow, officials and media in the West continue to pretend that Moscow’s retaliatory steps came as a surprise to them.

Immediately after the Russian Foreign Ministry announced the relevant measures, the information space was filled with arguments about the “disproportionate” actions of the Russian side and some kind of “disparity,” the Foreign Ministry noted.

As an example of such materials, the ministry cited an article by Deutsche Welle itself.

In it, they pointed out several facts that are not true or have been distorted and do not relate to the situation.

So, in particular, the relevant article about the situation with DW and RT DE refers to the situation with the license.

“The ANO TV-Novosti company, which owns the Russian TV channel RT DE (broadcasting from Moscow), has never recognized jurisdiction over the TV channel from Germany specifically ... According to the provisions of the European Convention on Transfrontier Television, a TV channel that has issued a license from one of the countries , signatory to the convention, can broadcast television in all signatory countries - that is, in 33 European countries, including most EU countries, including Germany.

RT DE, as a foreign TV channel, received a license from the signatory country (Serbia), respectively, had the right and opportunity to broadcast in Germany,” the department noted.

The German edition also emphasizes that Germany does not have the status of a “foreign agent”, therefore it is allegedly unfair to assign the corresponding status to DW.

“Despite the absence of a legally formalized status of a “foreign agent” in the legal theory and practice of German legislation, a number of measures taken by Berlin not only “mark” the RT channel, but stigmatize it, significantly complicating information and communication work.

This is also facilitated by numerous statements by German officials, the leadership of the key trade union journalistic association in Germany, ”the Russian department emphasized.

Earlier, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, commented on the statements of German officials about the allegedly “disproportionate” measures taken by the Russian side against the German TV channel Deutsche Welle in Moscow due to the situation with the ban on broadcasting RT DE in Germany.
