The United States is seeking to maximize the anti-Russian propaganda campaign, said Anatoly Antonov, Russia's ambassador to Washington.

This is how he commented on the statement by White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan that the Russian Federation could allegedly launch an “invasion” of Ukraine during the current Winter Olympics in Beijing.

“J.Sullivan's remarks are sustained in an alarmist vein.

We see in such statements only the desire of the administration to maximize the degree of the propaganda campaign against our country.

To form the impression among the public that “aggression” is inevitable, ”Antonov’s answer to a question from Newsweek is quoted by the Russian Embassy on his official Facebook account.

According to the Russian ambassador to the United States, such statements are devoid of evidence.

“The comments of politicians that Russia will “attack” Ukraine during the Olympics or after it are not supported by any evidence.

Washington just continues to “show off”, based on some intelligence, the details of which are not given, ”Antonov said.

The Russian diplomat stressed that even local observers note that the confidence of American citizens in such allegations has declined sharply.

In addition, as the Russian ambassador recalled, the Russian Federation has repeatedly stated that "it is not going to attack anyone."

Dmitry Polyansky, Russia's First Deputy Representative to the UN, also reacted to Sullivan's words.

In his Twitter, he noted that those who create panic and develop an anti-Russian campaign "have a second wind."

“Some sensible people hoped that the hysteria whipped up by the United States was on the wane.

Maybe the situation was jinxed, because those who sow panic obviously got a second wind.

Our troops are still on our territory.

And I wonder: will the US invade Ukraine itself?

Someone has to after such a panic-inducing campaign,” Polyansky wrote.

Some reasonable people were hoping US-fanned hysteria was waning.

Maybe they put a jinx on it, because scaremongers have clearly got second wind.

Washington's New Accusation

Recall that on February 11, during a briefing, the National Security Adviser to the President of the United States not only admitted that the Russian Federation could allegedly take aggressive steps against Ukraine during the Beijing Olympics, but also said that an “invasion” could happen “at any moment.”

“We are in that time interval when, if Vladimir Putin decides to give the order, the invasion can begin at any moment.

I will not reveal the details of the intelligence information we have, but I want to be clear: despite many speculations that this will not happen until after the Olympics, it can begin during them, ”Sullivan said.

According to him, if Russia "decides to go to war," the United States, along with allies and partners, "is ready to respond firmly."

“Our response will include tough economic sanctions, with similar packages coming from the European Union, the UK, Canada and other countries.

In addition, this will include a change in the disposition of NATO and US forces along the eastern flank of the alliance, as well as continued support for Ukraine, ”said the adviser to the head of the White House.

At the same time, Sullivan noted that no matter how events develop further, the West "is now more united than at any time in recent years."

“NATO has strengthened.

The Alliance has become more united, purposeful and dynamic than ever in recent times,” he said.

The adviser to the President of the United States also said that Washington continues to “reduce the number of people” in the American embassy in Kiev, also urging the citizens of the United States to urgently leave Ukraine.

“We want to be very clear on this issue: all Americans in Ukraine must leave the country as soon as possible, under any circumstances, within the next day or two,” Sullivan continued to escalate the situation.

This is not the first time that Washington has been scaring the world community with a possible Russian “attack” on Ukraine.

This was repeatedly stated earlier by US President Joe Biden, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, Pentagon Chief Lloyd Austin and a number of other high-ranking officials of the United States.

At the same time, Moscow many times categorically rejected statements about Russia's plans to “invade” Ukrainian territories.

At the end of January, during an interview with Russian radio stations, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stressed that the Russian side does not want war, but will not allow "rough attacks" on its security interests.

"The quintessence of the Russophobic choir"

As Konstantin Blokhin, a researcher at the Center for Security Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, noted in an interview with RT, Moscow’s responses to Washington’s accusations of plans to “invade” Ukraine, including new statements by the Russian ambassador to the United States and Russia’s deputy representative to the UN, are “logical and logical” .

“Sullivan’s words are the quintessence of a Russophobic choir in the United States and in the West as a whole.

Statements in this vein are voiced by American officials almost every day.

All this has led to the fact that in the West, especially among the Anglo-Saxons and their Baltic and Polish allies, they seriously talk about the fact that Russia is preparing for a war in Ukraine, without providing any evidence, ”the expert said.

According to Blokhin, the information space of the United States and the West "is already full of horror stories about Russia."

“Moreover, as a rule, we are talking not only about the replicated statements of officials who scare the world with the notorious “Russian invasion”, but also about fakes and stuffing, designed to further stir up hysteria.

This whole anti-Russian campaign is now on the rise.

It got to the point that the United States and the West as a whole openly say that there will be a war almost tomorrow, ”the analyst said.

At the same time, Blokhin stressed that by developing such a hype around this artificially created topic, Washington is pursuing very specific goals.

“This is the justification for the militarization of Ukraine, the increase in the military contingent in Eastern Europe, which is already happening, the imposition of even clearer bloc thinking on its NATO allies, their consolidation and the severing of Russia’s economic ties with Europe,” the expert stated.

Another task of the United States, according to Blokhin, is to push the Ukrainian authorities to a military escalation in the Donbass by unwinding the anti-Russian campaign.

“That's what Washington wants.

The White House also hopes that in the event of the resumption of the acute phase of the conflict in eastern Ukraine, Russia will intervene in it, on which it will be possible to impose a new portion of sanctions for this and thus restrain its development, ”the analyst believes.

A similar position is shared by Pavel Feldman, Deputy Director of the Institute for Strategic Studies and Forecasts of the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia.

According to him, the United States is pushing Ukraine to aggravate the armed conflict in the Donbass.

“At the same time, Washington openly declares that it is not ready to fight for Ukraine, but instead it supplies it with a large amount of weapons, albeit often second-hand ones.

However, because of such assistance, Ukraine may become too bold and think that this makes it invincible, ”he said in a conversation with RT.

Feldman also drew attention to the fact that the notorious “invasion” of Russia into Ukraine in the United States and in the West is increasingly being spoken of as imminent.

“This is done so that Moscow is even more perceived in the world as an aggressor and the personification of real evil, even when she has not done anything yet and does not plan to do anything.

At the same time, no one is embarrassed that the US accusations are not supported by any evidence.

Say, American intelligence received information that everyone should believe, ”the expert said.

In addition, Feldman, like Blokhin, believes that in addition to the goal of fomenting a conflict in the Donbass, Washington also pursues the task of “driving a wedge in relations between Russia and its Western European partners.”

“The demonization of the Russian Federation here acts as a tool with which the United States once again wants to do so in order to alienate Russia from Europe and interfere with their trade and economic cooperation,” the analyst noted.

Through the development of its anti-Russian campaign, Washington wants to impose its vision of the security system on European partners, as well as weaken Russia, Feldman believes.

“The United States wants to increase the power of the so-called American shield in Europe in order to make it even more dependent.

Washington wants to show that the EU is unable to ensure its own security without US support.

But the main and geopolitical goal is to contain the development of Russia, the deterioration of the socio-economic situation within the country, ”concluded the expert.
