During his visit to Moscow last Monday, the French president refused a Russian drug test.

Those close to the head of state would have feared that the Kremlin would get their hands on Emmanuel Macron's DNA.

It was a condition demanded by Moscow so that Emmanuel Macron could meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin with less distance, namely a smaller table and possibly a handshake.

This wish was not granted.

Emmanuel Macron categorically refused to carry out a PCR test in Russia, a compulsory element in order to be able to shake hands with Vladimir Putin while respecting health rules.

"We judged that the conditions were not acceptable to us", soberly comments the entourage of the head of state.

Protecting the President's DNA from Russian authorities

The reason given to justify the refusal of the test by Emmanuel Macron is surprising.

The Head of State would have simply refused for fear that the Russian authorities will recover his DNA via this test.

These explanations were provided by two sources at the Elysée to the Reuters news agency: "We could not accept that they got their hands on the DNA of the president."

Presidential: why meeting with Putin is a risky bet for Macron

A justification that may seem far-fetched insofar as Emmanuel Macron dined in the Kremlin.

His DNA was therefore present in the cutlery he used to eat.

Moreover, another element illustrates the climate of mistrust in which this visit took place.

After his meeting with Vladimir Putin, the French president went for a walk in Red Square, a stone's throw from the Kremlin, with his advisers.

Officially, the justification for this release is relaxation.

Nevertheless, the rumor runs that the French delegation had a certainty during the walk, that of escaping possible microphones hidden in the hotel of the president.
