Reuters quoted sources as saying that it is unlikely that Qatar Energy will face new antitrust measures from the European Union, three years after the European Commission opened investigations in this regard.

The investigations are related to whether deals to supply liquefied natural gas with European utility companies for a period of 20 years, have prevented the Qatari company from diverting shipments within the region, which includes 27 countries.

The sources said that the antitrust issue is not related to the current gas crisis in Europe.

In 2018, the European Union Competition Commission concluded a 7-year investigation into the violation of market rules by the Russian company, "Gazprom".

The commission accepted pledges from Russia's Gazprom to reform its natural gas pricing structure and allow competitors to enter the gas market in eastern Europe.
