[Explanation] On February 4, Hong Xiuzhu, the former chairman of the Chinese Kuomintang, was invited to participate in the opening ceremony of the Beijing Winter Olympics.
Recently, in an exclusive interview with a reporter from China News Agency, Hong Xiuzhu said that it was a great honor to witness the historical moment when Beijing became the world's No. 1 "Double Olympic City".

In fact, I was very happy to be able to participate in such an important Olympic Games in Beijing twice.
In the past 14 years, I have witnessed Beijing becoming the world's No. 1 "Double Olympic City". I am really honored, and at the same time, I feel very lucky to be able to witness the history of the Chinese nation shining in the international sports arena.
[Commentary] In Hong Xiuzhu's view, if the performance of the opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games was a warm and friendly "self-introduction" of China to the world, then the opening ceremony of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics revealed an open and avant-garde side .

The opening performance of this year's Winter Olympics shows everyone that Beijing is confident, sunny, prosperous, open, and even, I think, avant-garde.
As a member of the Chinese nation, the opening of the Winter Olympics this time really left a deep impression on me.
[Explanation] During the Winter Olympics, some youths in Beijing and Taiwan formed a Winter Olympics City Volunteer Service Team to serve the Winter Olympics, which was very popular.
On and off the field, there are also many Taiwanese youth volunteering for the Winter Olympics.
Hong Xiuzhu praised these young people as "the best role models".

In fact, the future of both sides of the strait lies in the youth. I think these young volunteers (volunteers) are the best models for cross-strait cooperation and win-win cooperation. I hope they can continue to transmit more "positive energy" between the two sides of the strait.

Because of the gap in information, some people who intend to vilify the mainland have the opportunity to interfere and distort the facts.
Because the arrogance of "Taiwan independence" is getting more and more arrogant, it is easier to cause a chilling effect on the Internet. I often encourage those young people who have actually participated in exchanges in the mainland not to be afraid to tell the truth, and to put what they see in the mainland as reality. On the one hand, tell them about their peers and friends, so as to dispel those misunderstandings and lies.
[Explanation] During this trip to the Winter Olympics in Beijing, Hong Xiuzhu proposed for the first time that "the Chinese dream cannot be without Taiwan, and Taiwan cannot be absent from the wave of national rejuvenation".
Hong Xiuzhu believes that the integration and development of the two sides of the strait has become "the general trend, and it is impossible to control it."

I think there is a very special situation between the two sides of the strait. The political aspect seems to be cold, but the economic aspect is different. It is very enthusiastic. To stop it, it can be said to be "perfectly able to control".
The Chinese Dream represents the expectation and hope of the Chinese people for national rejuvenation, so we believe that without Taiwan, of course the Chinese Dream will not be fulfilled; and Taiwan is more and more dependent on the mainland in terms of economy and trade. Therefore, compatriots on both sides of the strait must be together. Going hand in hand, we can jointly create a splendid future for the nation.
