After having directed the special unit of the national gendarmerie in the fight against terrorism, and commanded the special legion, Lieutenant-Colonel Evrard Somda specifies that his primary mission is a reorganization of the national gendarmerie.

After sixty years of existence, it is imperative that the national gendarmerie of Burkina Faso be reorganized, in order to be fully operational

", declared the new boss of the gendarmerie.

Lieutenant-Colonel Evrard Somda recalls that the dysfunctions observed

during the attack in Inata

, in the Sahel region, require a profound reorganization of the national gendarmerie.

He explained that this redevelopment will provide the institution with autonomy and efficiency, in order to reaffirm to the entire nation, their commitment to yield nothing to the enemy.

On January 24, Lieutenant-Colonel Evrard Somda had played a role of appeasement between mutinous soldiers and part of the gendarmerie who opposed the arrest of President Roch Marc Christian Kaboré.

The two men, Somda and Damiba, spoke to each other on January 24 to clear up any misunderstandings

 ,” our source said.

He now has the heavy responsibility of bringing together all the units of his institution, around the same fight: the fight against insecurity.
