Abu Dhabi Police violated 2,850 thousand drivers for crossing the "red light"

 The Traffic and Patrols Directorate of Abu Dhabi Police revealed that 2,850 drivers were violated in 2021 for crossing a red light, and warned drivers of the extreme danger and dire consequences of crossing a red light due to lack of attention and distraction from the road, explaining that cutting a red light means a disaster accident for road users or a serious accident on the road. The least where the violation of crossing a red light is classified as a dangerous violation.

 Abu Dhabi Police, in cooperation with the Follow-up and Control Center, broadcast a video of a driver who crossed the red light due to lack of focus and preoccupation with other than the road while waiting to cross the signal, which caused a traffic accident.

She stated that Law No. (5) of 2020 regarding impounding vehicles in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi clarified that the violation of a vehicle exceeding a red light is 1,000 dirhams, 12 traffic points, and impounding the vehicle for 30 days, and the financial value of detaining the vehicle is 50,000 dirhams, in addition to withdrawing the driver's license for the violating driver for a period of 6 Months starting from the date of withdrawing the license, provided that the vehicle is impounded until the payment of the financial value for releasing the seizure and for a maximum period of three months.

Abu Dhabi Police called on drivers to pay attention and focus while driving or when waiting to cross the traffic light, and to avoid using the phone to browse the Internet and social media sites, in order to avoid deviating the vehicle or bypassing the red light.
