“Today I sent a letter to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, repeating my invitation to Russia to continue our dialogue as part of a series of meetings in the Russia-NATO Council,” RIA Novosti quotes Stoltenberg.

According to the NATO Secretary General, the alliance is ready to listen to Russia's concerns and discuss ways to strengthen the fundamental principles of European security.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said NATO and the US had ignored Moscow's central concerns over security guarantees.

At the same time, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov noted that the alliance's response to Russian proposals for security guarantees contains much more boorish language than the response of the United States.
