“The head of the British Foreign Office was clearly given to understand that the anti-Russian activity of London in Ukraine and in other countries of the post-Soviet space cannot but have a negative impact on Russian-British relations,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The "continuous attempts" by the British to interfere in the internal affairs of Russia and the affairs of neighboring states "are unacceptable and must be stopped immediately," the Foreign Ministry said.

“Possible anti-Russian sanctions, which, according to the new amendments to British law, can apply to any individual or legal entity connected in one way or another with the Russian state, if they are introduced, can only be regarded as an act of aggression.

Our response will be measured and tough,” the ministry added.

Russian Ambassador to London Andrey Kelin noted that Moscow has something to answer if London imposes new sanctions.
