It was in September that five men had gone to an address in Malmberget to confront a man about a theft of a cross motorcycle.

The man is said to have been beaten at home and then tied up with cable ties, loaded on the flatbed of a pickup truck and driven out to a forest road where he is said to have received further kicks and blows.

For several years, the prosecutor demanded imprisonment for three of the accused, but all were released after the final pleadings in Gällivare District Court on 27 January.

Pointed out as driving

One of the men who during the trial was pointed out as the driving force behind the assault is now convicted of kidnapping, less serious crime, as well as two cases of aggravated assault and will serve a prison sentence of two years and six months.

The man who owned the stolen motorcycle was sentenced to one year and six months in prison for aggravated assault.

The three men who were also at the crime scene are all sentenced for aiding and abetting illegal detention.

Only one of them is also convicted of assault.

The penalty will be probation for two of them and probation with community service for one of them.
