In the video that was published four days ago, Basem Mahmoud, who runs a basement mosque in Malmö, says, among other things, “From now on, we do not allow the Swedish state to take a Muslim child.

Absolutely not!"

and "It is a crime committed against Muslims", something Kvällposten was the first to report.

The researcher warns

Terrorist researcher Magnus Ranstorp has followed how the campaign spread on social media and is not surprised that even Islamist preachers have started to spread the message.

- That imams get into this is serious because those who spread these false narratives about social services forced care affect their congregation's perception.

He believes that the reason why Islamist imams repeat the message is to strike a wedge between the parishioners and the rest of society.

- They want to encapsulate their parishioners and keep them away from secularization, he says.

Important with civil society

Magnus Ranstorp sees that the spread of the false information is going in waves, both in Sweden and abroad.

He does not believe that it will subside and that it is therefore important that people in civil society are involved in order to be able to find out what is true and what is not.

- It is very important that influential people explain and nuance.

It does not have to mean that they say there are no problems but they can also correct direct factual errors.

SVT Nyheter Skåne has contacted Basem Mahmoud who did not want to comment at the time of publication.
