A "honour" crime... deterrent decisions to confront the encroachment on agricultural land in Egypt

The Egyptian Cabinet, in its meeting today, headed by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, reviewed the position of encroachments on agricultural lands, and the measures that are being taken with the aim of preserving the agricultural area.

The Prime Minister stressed that he will follow up himself, until any encroachments on agricultural lands are completely eliminated, and that the necessary measures will be taken to prevent such encroachments in the bud, and to preserve the agricultural area.

During the meeting, Mostafa Madbouly stressed that any new encroachment on agricultural lands will be dealt with decisively, and the relevant state agencies will remove any encroachment in all its forms and forms, and deterrent measures will be taken in this regard, in addition to stopping any support obtained by the infringer on any agricultural spot;

Whether this support comes from food, bread, fertilizers, and other forms of support.

At the same time, Madbouly stressed that it is the government's duty to protect the state's capabilities and property from any tampering or encroachment, because we are working to protect the rights of future generations and preserve their future, and we, in our role as a government, will not allow any small spot of agricultural land to be lost again;

This matter falls within the scope of maintaining the national security of the Egyptian state.

The Prime Minister instructed the Minister of Justice to study and prepare a draft law that includes the confiscation of the violating building, deeming the infringement of agricultural lands a "honour crime", in addition to imposing large financial fines on the aggressors, and that the bill also includes punishing the contractor who builds the violating building.
