As Zakharova recalled, the United States is not even able to partially cover the volume of energy supplies that Russia provides to the EU countries.

“We are talking about an elementary attempt, using the political situation artificially created by the Americans themselves, dishonest methods that do not reflect realities, to occupy part of the EU energy market, on favorable terms for themselves and not very profitable and favorable for Europeans, to obtain levers of maximum influence on the energy policy of the European Union,” she said at the briefing.

As European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said earlier, the European Union is negotiating with the United States and a number of other countries on the possibility of increasing gas supplies to Europe.

Brussels noted that the EU countries will discuss with the United States the reduction of dependence on Russian gas and the supply of American LNG to Europe.

However, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that Russia is not interested in the gas crisis in the EU.
