New round of arrests in Sudan, targeting representatives of political parties who were removed from power by the coup led by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhane on October 25.

These are the latest arrests to date after numerous arrests of activists, journalists, lawyers and demonstrators who are campaigning for civil power.

These members of the Forces for Freedom and Change coalition had already been arrested at the time of the putsch, then released under international pressure.

Since January, they had agreed to participate in the mediation proposed by the United Nations to try to get the country out of this major political crisis.

Khalid Omar Yousif, a former civilian government minister, was attending a meeting at the headquarters of his political party, the Sudanese Congress, when members of the security services, dressed in civilian clothes, burst into the room and dragged him away. field.

For his part, Wagdi Saleh, another figure of the forces for freedom and change, was also arrested after being summoned by the police.

He was transferred to Oumdurman prison and would be charged with “corruption” by the authorities.

Hundreds of activists detained
