The country's disaster management authority says that since Tuesday, the official death toll has risen from 30 to 80 - including at least 60 dead in the district of lkongo.

The storm pulled in over the past weekend.

The United Nations World Food Program (WFP) has found that around 595,000 people are directly affected by the cyclone and another 150,000 are at risk of losing their homes as a result of subsequent landslides and floods.

The effects of the storm are also expected to lead to a shortage of fresh water.
