What is the new effective weight loss drug that Britain has decided to provide?

What is the best way to control weight?

How does rapid weight loss pose a threat to your health?

The National Health Service in Britain provides semaglutide for weight loss

We start in Britain, where thousands of obese people in England will be able to get a new weight loss drug from the NHS, according to a report in the Guardian.

The scientific name of the drug is semaglutide, and its trade name is Wegovy.

The US Food and Drug Administration approved it last year.

The Guardian describes the new treatment in its report as a gamechanging weight loss drug.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (Nice) said patients who received weekly injections of the treatment experienced an average weight loss of 12% after one year.

It has issued a draft guideline recommending the use of semaglutide for adults with at least one weight-related condition, such as sleep apnea or heart disease, and a body mass index (BMI) of at least 35.

In exceptional cases, some people with a BMI of 30 or more may also be able to access self-administered medication using a pen injector.

How does semaglutide work?

Semaglutide suppresses appetite by mimicking the hormone glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1), which is released after eating.

Patients inject themselves with semaglutide, which makes them feel full, which means they eat less and lose weight.

Food fraud and rapid weight loss are dangerous to your health

Moving on to Turkey, where the Head of the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Thrace in Turkey, Prof. Dr. Aydan Arcan, said that dietary models that rely on rapid weight loss and weight loss pills - not based on scientific evidence or official medical recommendation - pose a threat to the health of The human.

These weight loss pills are sold as nutritional supplements or folk recipes, and they do not have to be approved by the medical authorities in the country to lose weight.

Dr. Arjan told Anadolu Agency that some individuals resort to diet models that depend on rapid weight loss, to get rid of obesity.

She pointed out that obesity has become a widespread phenomenon in Turkey and the world, and that some parties misuse this situation and promise obese individuals with diet models based on rapid weight loss.

She explained that obesity has become a health problem all over the world, because it causes the emergence of many diseases, and that some parties are exploiting this problem in order to achieve financial profits, even at the expense of the health of individuals.

"The weight accumulated for years cannot be lost immediately, the weight gained in 5 years cannot be lost in 5 or 10 days. This mechanism is contrary to human nature and its vitality," she added.

And the doctor added, "Some parties are aware of this fact, but they are trying to take advantage of this problem to achieve quick financial gains."

Diets that have no scientific basis should be avoided

Arjan reports that models of diet and weight loss pills that are claimed to cause rapid weight loss are causing significant harm to human health.

She stressed that the methods that promise rapid changes are unreliable, because they do not have a scientific document, and are called "food fraud" in the scientific community.

And she continued, "Some countries are combating food fraud by adopting some legislation and laws. Food fraud causes severe damage to human health, and it is being promoted through some information and data that is based on some private experiences, far from scientific evidence."

"People who are obese can obtain information based on scientific evidence by seeking advice from nutritionists and health professionals. Today, there are many dieticians in all health institutions in Turkey," she added.

Arjan stressed the need to stay away from pills that are used to get rid of excess weight quickly, because they cause severe damage to human health.

She urged people who suffer from obesity to strive to lose weight in a balanced manner and within a schedule that takes into account the specifics of their health conditions, and does not expose them to risks and negative consequences.

A balanced diet and exercise should be followed

Arjan added that it is possible to control weight by following a balanced diet and exercising, stressing the need to diversify diets and eat enough vegetables and proteins.

She pointed out that healthy diets consist of foods that contain all the nutrients that must be consumed by the body, and a balance between vegetables and vegetable and animal proteins.

And she added, "Healthy diets must create a balance in the consumption of many foodstuffs, primarily nuts, bread, milk, meat and vegetables, according to the needs of people wishing to conduct the diet, and ensure the consumption of these foods in a balanced and regular manner."
