“One gets the impression that the Latvian authorities are pursuing a conscious line of curtailing ties with our country,” Vanin quoted TASS as saying in an interview with the Segodnya Nedelya newspaper.

According to him, the work of the joint commission of historians has been frozen for several years, and inter-parliamentary cooperation is "in limbo."

He added that a number of initiatives of the Russian side in the humanitarian and memorial spheres are being artificially hampered.

Earlier, American Democratic Senator Dick Durbin, together with a group of colleagues, submitted a draft resolution to Congress, which welcomed the "courage" of the Baltic states, shown by them in the fight against "Russian aggression."
