It was in September 2021 that a communicator at Uppsala municipality interrupted an ongoing interview conducted by an SVT reporter.

Ultimately responsible is communications director Marta Tiberg, who herself says that she also does not understand how this could happen and that it also indicates that clarity is required within the organization.

- This incident in the media, it was incorrect, but that person had a manager who was in charge of personnel administrative matters - it was part of another team.

And the person who is actually responsible for the press had nothing to do with this at all, says Marta Tiberg.

Large staff turnover

After the incident, Uppsala Municipality commissioned a thorough review of the communication department's work.

Among other things, it has been stated that staff turnover among the 85 employees is high due to a poor working environment and that they often feel questioned despite the fact that the administrations are said to be satisfied with the communication staff's work.

It has also been seen that a clearer organization and more training is required to create security for all employees within the municipality when it comes to issues concerning contacts with the media.

In the video above, you will hear more about the work environment and what measures to take.

Continued need for consultants

The review has also looked at the need to bring in consultants - something that has been questioned from a political point of view.

- Consultants are hired if someone is on parental leave, on leave, on sick leave or during recruitment.

There, I think it is extra important to "dress" those who come in so that they get the right conditions, she says.

The person who interrupted the interview in September was employed as a consultant.

His assignment ended the week after the high-profile incident and he is no longer employed by the municipality.
