A man appeared on Tuesday before the criminal court of Valence (Drôme).

He had to explain himself on a hunting trip, in December 2020, during which a fellow hunter, octogenarian, had been injured, hit by a bullet burst, reports

In court, the defendant acknowledged the facts and explained that he had moved back about forty meters, moving away from the other participants.

But he had not informed the person responsible for the search.

On seven shots, a bullet would have ricocheted and injured the octogenarian.

Sentenced to fines

The 50-year-old was released for the unintentional injuries but ordered to pay 200 euros for non-compliance with the hunting plan, 500 euros in damages to the departmental federation of hunters in Drôme and 1,100 euros to the hunting association of Plan -de-Baix.

He got his rifle back.
