The Police arrested in Lleida a fugitive, of Bolivian nationality, wanted by Argentina for a crime of child abduction and who had an International Arrest Warrant for extradition by that country.
In 2003, the suspect fled from the city of Buenos Aires, giving up her job and her life, taking her 3-year-old daughter without her father's authorization.
Since then, the father has carried out various campaigns on social networks to find her daughter, the last one on February 1, the date of the young woman's birthday, who is now 23 years old.
The agents received a request for collaboration in locating and arresting a woman who would have fled Argentina with her daughter and who could be found in Spain.
The investigation culminated in locating the suspect, in 48 hours, in Lleida, since she had her residence there.
After surveillance of her home, the woman was able to be arrested and she will now go to the National High Court for her extradition
The suspect has been on the run for 19 years and her whereabouts were unknown.
She now faces a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison in Argentina for these events.
Her father had a restitution order for his daughter in 2004 in addition to posting messages on social networks.
The last one was on February 1, 2022, the young woman's birthday when she wrote: "Today is your birthday, my love. I wish with all my heart that you are well and that there will be less and less to meet us."
