The fact that wild boar accidents have increased in Blekinge may be due to several factors, but one connection may be that the number of wild boar has increased in the county.

Both the county administrative board and the Swedish Hunters' Association have seen that the tribe has become stronger over a five-year period.

- Blekinge has a great variety, different deciduous tree species at the same time as we have more grandominating lands.

We also have a very broken landscape, which the wild boar thinks is a good habitat, says Karin Stoeckmann.

The firing may increase

In Blekinge's five hunting care districts, statistics are kept for shooting in order to get an overall picture of the development of the wild boar population.

As the trunk increases, so does the firing.

It now looks like there are several new litters in progress.

- Normally they give birth to their cubs during February, March.

But we experience that they also give birth all year round depending on the weather and food supply, says hunter Kåge Bergkvist.

Blekinge's mild winters have made the young survive and after two acorn years in a row, there has been plenty of good food.

- When the wild boar population has increased, the shooting has also increased.

Annual pigs are usually shot to have control of the strain.
