  • Logroño crime The enigma of the dead girl in room 404

The accused of murdering her daughter in a hotel in Logroño on January 26, 2020, AU, left written "farewell" letters like her mother, the girl's grandmother, and both had "different reasons", as the accused's brother told the

National Police

.

Today the seventh day of the trial was held, by popular jury, in which AU faces a crime of murder with the statement, among others, of the agents who collected the letters left by both the accused and her mother, whose body appeared in the Ebro.

That day four patrols (initially three and then a fourth) went to the hotel where AU had checked in because a woman (the defendant) wanted to jump out of the window.

It was an operation deployed in the face of a suicide attempt whose mission was transformed when the body of the girl and her mother were found with multiple wounds with dried blood.

The car, "recently accident"

Of the displaced agents, two of them went to locate the car in which the defendant had traveled from Haro and which was parked nearby.

Today they have reported, in the trial, that they found nothing "worthy of note" but that it had "signs of having been recently injured", presenting a blow, on the right side, and the "burst right rear tire".

After returning to the hotel, one of the chiefs told them: "

Go

urgently to Haro, to the Civil Guard barracks."

There, the commander handed over the letters and the two cell phones found by the accused's brother on a cupboard.

The brother related his concern, having both disappeared from home, and how he understood the "farewell" letters.

The agents did not read them, but the brother recounted "the content of what he had read" in his statement at the police station, saying that in them both "inferred that they were planning to kill themselves."

The agent reflected in his report "verbatim" what the brother said that day, and this is reflected in the minutes.

Today, the agent has indicated that memory "fails more" than the text he wrote at the time, emphasizing that he always puts everything "literally."

The scam as a reason for suicide

Thus, he has referred to what appears in the statement of that day and, in any case, has said that "he stated how each one had reflected different reasons for dismissal."

Specifically, the grandmother's motive was the scam in which she had fallen, and that of the accused so as not to see her daughter suffer.

As for the girl's father, they did not want to tell him what had happened, while they were transferring him to

Logroño

, because they lacked "knowledge and sensitivity".

The next day, the search for the mother of the accused began, in which the firefighters also participated and which focused on the banks of the Ebro, choosing the place that would be accessed by someone who walked in a straight line from the hotel.

"The instructors pointed out that he could have committed suicide," he said, pointing to the river as the "main" place to which those who want to take their own lives go.
