The pianist and former music academy rector Siegfried Mauser, who was sentenced to two years and nine months in prison by the Munich Regional Court for sexual assault, began prison on February 7 in the Puch-Urstein prison near Hallein.

Since Mauser also has Austrian citizenship, he was allowed to serve his sentence in Austria.

A plea for clemency to the Austrian Federal President, with which Mauser wanted to obtain a postponement because of his constitutional complaint pending with the German Federal Constitutional Court, was unsuccessful.

In the meantime, Mauser's lawyer Johann Schwenn has refrained from considering an application for a temporary injunction in Karlsruhe, as he told the FAZ.

From his experience, he draws the hope that a positive decision on the constitutional complaint will prompt the Augsburg Regional Court to order his client's release from prison before the retrial is allowed.
