“During the spread of the Omicron strain, the course of the disease changed,” Murashko is quoted as saying by TASS.

According to him, "in most patients, especially in those who were vaccinated, the disease began to proceed in a mild form with such typical symptoms of SARS as nasal congestion, sore throat."

The minister also added that most of the patients, primarily those on outpatient treatment, the disease can be asymptomatic.

Earlier, the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), Kirill Dmitriev, said that, according to the fund, Russia will pass the peak incidence of the omicron strain of coronavirus this week.

Professor Natalya Pshenichnaya, Deputy Director for Clinical and Analytical Work of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, said that in Russia there is a tendency to stabilize the situation with the incidence of coronavirus.
