It is the epilogue of a political crisis that has tarnished the coming to power of Xiomara Castro.

The left-wing president has reached an agreement with the dissident deputies of her party.

The latter finally recognize the legitimacy of Luis Redondo, an elected official from another party to whom Xiomara Castro had promised to reserve the post of President of Parliament in exchange for his support during the presidential election.

The crisis erupted when these deputies refused to respect this commitment and formed a second parallel Parliament.

The 17 dissident deputies signed a 5-point agreement with their party, the Free Party.

They rejoin the movement from which

they had been excluded

and are now invited to wash their dirty laundry exclusively with their families.

They may not share the party's strategy but still commit to accepting Luis Redondo as the legitimate president of Congress, as provided for in an agreement reached by Xiomara Castro during the presidential campaign.

The man they had elected in his place, Jorge Càlix, agrees to retire.

He said this under the gaze of former head of state Manuel Zelaya, leader of the Free Party and husband of the current president: "

I understand that what matters most is the country, peace of Honduras, the stability of the government, the strengthening of the rule of law, and that comes before my interests and what I want

".

Jorge Càlix, on the other hand, refuses to join the government as a consolation prize.

The right-wing opposition welcomes the success of the dialogue within the presidential party.

She nevertheless asks that the election of Luis Redondo be ratified by a new vote in the Assembly.
